Lollapalooza 2022

JULY 28-31, 2022
CHICAGO, IL

THE SHORT VERSION

The four-day event in Chicago brings heat, crowds, long lines and amazing music.

Lollapalooza started as a kick-ass touring festival back in 1991 and is now a four-day annual event in Chicago’s Grant Park. The short version here is: expect heat, crowds, long lines and amazing music. If you go, you’re in Chicago in July and it gets hot, guys. HOT. Roughly 400,000 are expected to jam into Grant Park over the four days, so brace for the lines — the lines to get in, lines for beer, lines for everything.

The big upside is this year’s headliners. They include Metallica, Dua Lipa, J. Cole, Green Day and many more (see below poster). At a festival of Lollapalooza’s size and stature, artists are liable to bring out surprise guests during their sets. Last year, Chance the Rapper joined G Herbo and Billy Idol joined Miley Cyrus.

There’s no age restrictions for this event so you’ll see the full range of attendees. Also of note, more attendees plan to do drugs at this year’s four-day event than any other major festival, according to health research firm Innerbody, and 96 percent of attendees drinking. So, be ready for absurd revelry.

In 2022, there’s a new twist: NFTs. (It’s 2022. Of course there are NFTs!) Lollapalooza is partnering with different NFT communities to create festival-themed tokens. Some tokens support charities, others support artists, and some translate into in-person festival perks.
