Big Texas Beer Festival

Big Texas Beer Festival 2024

APRIL 06, 2024
DALLAS, TX

THE SHORT VERSION

Hoards of thirsty beer lovers from middle-aged men in bermuda shorts to nonchalant 20-somethings, eagerly queuing up to get that crisp first sip of craft beer.

Picture this lively scene: robust guys with beaver beards and beer barrel hats, ladies adorned with pretzel ring necklaces and siblings sporting Boy Scout uniforms, a funny dude with a bandana proudly donning a “Bernie Kosar for President” T-shirt, middle-aged couples on double-dates saying cheers a little too loudly, and the air is filled with the chant, “Buy beer or buy a hundred.” This is the Big Texas Beer Festival, one of the largest craft beer celebrations in the state, and a joyous party for beer lovers.

Set against the backdrop of a Ferris wheel proudly emblazoned with the word “Texas” and an unfurled American flag next to it, the Big Texas Beer Festival draws over 5000 attendees to Dallas’ Fair Park automotive building. The event showcases 150 breweries and an impressive variety of over 500 beers, hard kombuchas, meads and ciders.

The festival brings together breweries from far and wide and, in the past, local favorites like Rabbit Hole Brewing and Lakewood Brewing Co. have unveiled new brews, and Franconia Brewing Co. made waves with massive ice sculptures dispensing suds, including the highly-discussed 27% ABV Ice Bock.

Despite the choices, the crowd never becomes overwhelming, ensuring short waits and swift lines — perfect for sipping 2-ounce pours. Outside the main event, live bands play, and a beer garden hosts an array of food trucks and vendors. Notably, ample restrooms are strategically positioned — an indispensable detail. Past years have also featured a wide variety of games such as indoor frisbees, soccer and car video games, etc.
