How much head does a headbanger bang, when a headbanger does bang head? You’ll find out. Because at Breakaway: Another World music festival in North Carolina you can head bang through every set. A festival series that runs shows across the country, this will be Breakaway’s first-ever all bass festival, with both nights helmed by Canadian DJ and producer Excision, who is a major player in the bass and EDM scenes. He’s also the one behind major bass festivals like Lost Lands, Bass Canyon, and Paradise Blue where he’s developed a reputation for strobing multicolored lights and crazy background visuals. The festival’s name, “Another World,” usually just based on the hosting city or state, speaks to Excision’s futuristic sounds and otherworldly themes.
You’ll still get the usual Breakaway set up though, with a main stage, a smaller side stage and a silent disco. There’s also been a roller rink in previous iterations of the Breakaway Carolina festival at the same venue, xMax Dragway in the Charlotte Motor Speedway. This will be the first time car, tent and RV camping will be available for festival-goers. Those over 18 can get add-on passes to their tickets and set up on the Speedway grounds not far from Dragway where the stages are.
Joining Excision will be a lineup of DJs and producers, many of whom are staples at Excision’s festivals, including pairings like Hairitage B2B DRINKURWATER, Kompany B2B Calcium, and Bear Grillz with Cubs. A Breakaway must, there’ll be 66 DJs — most from North Carolina — at the silent disco with sets to keep you dancing all night. Activations from sponsors will be all over the grounds, and previous years have included a kandi-making station, where you can assemble the beaded bracelets that rave fans like to wear (called kandi) and trade them with new friends.
