Every fall for over a decade, the birthplace of Outkast, Future, Usher, and more has come together to celebrate Black musicians and Black culture at One Music Fest. The concept of One Music Fest was born when founder Jason Carter noticed a gap in the music fest market — that it lacked an urban outdoor music festival that centered hip hop, reggae, R&B and Afrobeats. So, he created one in Atlanta, one of hip hop’s most prolific cities. In the beginning, about 2,000 music fans attended the fest and it now draws more than 45,000.
This year marks the 14th year of the event, and the 50th anniversary of hip-hop and to pay homage a special stage will highlight artists including Nelly, DJ Drama and Waka Flocka, among others. Headliners across the three stages will be musicians among the ranks of Kendrick Lamar, Janet Jackson, Megan Thee Stallion, Brent Faiyaz and more.
Additionally, not unlike other larger festivals like Lollapalooza and Coachella, One Music Festival has independent, local food vendors, local merchants, and local artists selling all-American treasures. The food options are set to serve up everything from seafood to stir fry to crab legs, chicken and waffles, Caribbean food, and much more.
- Over 45,000 people attend.
