Yet again, DJ and electronic music artist Diplo is making an appearance at a country music festival (see: Stagecoach), and this time he’ll be joined by rapper T-Pain. Both are set to perform “country inspired” sets at the inaugural Two Step Inn, taking place in Georgetown, Texas, from April 15 – 16. Headlined by country hotshots Tyler Childers and Zach Bryan, the festival will center “country currents, country classics, and the country curious,” combining the old, new and unexpected.
Two Step Inn may be located in Texas, and it may have some of country’s biggest names, but it’s not your typical country music festival — it’s more of a hybrid event. Tanya Tucker and Wynonna Judd have more of a familiar country sound, while Childers and Bryan bring the cool factor. Throw in artists such as Nikki Lane, and you get a much more hip and subversive vibe. Then there’s Diplo (who has recently started to release country music under his real name, Thomas Wesley).
While there has never before been a Two Step Inn, the festival is already marketing itself as the World’s Largest Outdoor Honky Tonk. Promoted by C3 Presents — which is also behind Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits — the festival will have 40 plus artists, 3 stages and multiple dance floors. Expect “oak trees and neon dreams” as you enjoy the eclectic music, Central Texas Cuisine and dedicated artist merch areas. No one can speak for the crowd quite yet, but Two Step Inn’s official Twitter account posted a “90s Mom in the South Starter Pack” as outfit inspo, so take that as you will.
