Outside Lands, northern California’s biggest music festival, returns on Friday, August 11, to Golden Gate Park for the 15th year. This year’s fest is packed with more than 60 artists, including The 1975, Lana Del Ray, Cigarettes After Sex, Maggie Rogers and Father John Misty. The Tumblr girls are in for a field day, and the less sentimental of us can go for headliners like Kendrick Lamar, Foo Fighters, Odesza, Megan Thee Stallion and up and coming artists Inhaler, Pretty Sick and No Vacation. Outside Lands 2023 won’t be the influencer olympics with over the top festival fits or people fighting to prove they’re deserving of the best VIP access. This is more a festival for the music (as odd as that might sound when talking a music festival).
Inspired by the underground club scene, the SOMA Tent will bring nine hours of wrist flicking dance music to Marx Meadows. With laser light shows, disco balls and non-stop house music, you could spend all day here if that’s your thing.
There’s also more to look forward to at the Outside Lands Music Festival than crowded pits. For three days, 200,000 people wander the Wine and Beer Lands, legally smoke cannabis, dive into handcrafted cocktails and get a taste of the Bay Area. Vendor applications are now closed so stay tuned for soon to be announced food vendors. Premium festival goers can be prepared for complementary food from Miller & Lux, Boulevard and Liholiho Yacht Club.
