Cali Vibes, a — you guessed it — Southern California festival has found a home in Long Beach, California. Its prime location, along the waterfront at Marina Green Park, guarantees a true Golden State homage with music that ranges from rap and hip hop to reggae and folk. California is touted for its year-round beautiful weather, but February is often an exception to that rule. With lower temperatures, it’s theoretically perfect festival weather, but in practice, can leave some with chattering teeth at night, non-MDMA induced.
If you get chilly, good news: you can light up to keep warm. Cali Vibes is one of the first, and largest, festivals to permit cannabis consumption on site. The festival has previously partnered with Dr. GreenThumb dispensaries and Weedmaps (think Doordash for weed) to host a cannabis village full of a variety of weed brands, putting a festival stamp of approval on a pre-show toke.
The Cali Vibes festival, which began in 2022, pays its respects to California beach culture. This year’s lineup includes reggae artists like Stick Figure and Stephen Marley, son of Bob Marley. Plus, Saturday night, amidst what we can only assume will be heavy cannabis clouds, Gwen Stefani will emerge for a special performance. Despite the difference of genre, we have no doubt that the performance will be (bubble pop) electric. For those concerned about satiating their munchies, previous years have hosted a churro bar, as well as stations full of jerk chicken and Caribbean food.
